Matador Women's Basketball Clinches Homecourt Advantage in Region I Semis

Yuma, Arizona - Arizona Western College announced that the AWC Women’s Basketball team has officially clinched the #2 playoff seed in next week’s Region I Playoffs by virtue of their 63-54 victory Tuesday night against Cochise College in Douglas. That win-coupled with Yavapai’s 74-58 loss to Mesa Tuesday night in Prescott-officially sets the playoff picture on the Division I side of the Region I Playoff bracket for next week.

Baseball Falls To Seventh-Ranked Cal State Fullerton 8-6

San Diego, California - On a night in which the game’s first eight runs were scored with only three hits, seventh-ranked Cal State Fullerton used a pair of late tallies to edge San Diego State, 8-6, at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Eight of the game’s 14 total runs were of the unearned variety as errors and pitching control issues were the story of the evening. The outcome evened both school’s early-season record at 2-2.

Aztec Womens Tennis Falls to Trojans

San Diego, California - The San Diego State womens tennis team was defeated by the No. 9 USC Trojans, 7-0 Tuesday afternoon at Marks Tennis Stadium in Los Angeles. The No. 62 Aztecs were outpaced by the Trojans, which puts SDSU at 6-3 on the season.

Aztecs Open Outdoor Season with Solid Effort at UCSD

La Jolla, California - San Diego State, which did not field a full team with the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships on the horizon, officially opened the outdoor season with a third-place finish at the UCSD Quad Meet on Saturday. On the day, the Aztecs won three events, including the pole vault, shot put and javelin throw.

Arizona State Water Polo Notches 11-10 Upset Of 5th Ranked California

Irvine, california - The Arizona State University water polo team rallied to upset No. 5 California 11-10 on Sunday at the UC Irvine Invitational. The Sun Devils are now 9-4 on the season with the win, and they will play in the fifth-place game of the tournament later on Sunday.

Coach Kelly Green Becomes AWC All-time Leader in Basketball Wins

Yuma, Arizona - Arizona Western College is proud to announce that AWC Men’s Head Basketball Coach Kelly Green has become the school’s all-time leader in wins in men’s basketball. Green accomplished the feat Saturday night at Theo Heap Gymnasium on the campus of Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona, as his Matadors held off the Mesa Thunderbirds, 81-70, in a key late-season ACCAC matchup.
