Coyotes Own Five Selections in the First 2 Rounds of the NHL Draft

Glendale, Arizona - The Phoenix Coyotes will have the eighth overall drafting position for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, which will be held Friday at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa and will be televised on Versus at 4 p.m. Arizona time.

Aztec Men’s Soccer Signs Talented Recruiting Class

San Diego, California - San Diego State head men’s soccer coach Lev Kirshner has announced its 2008 recruiting class. The five-player group includes an English national team player, a member of adidas/ESP, who is also a regional ODP starter, the San Diego Union Tribune Player of the Year, a Division I transfer and one of the top defenders in Southern California from the 2008 state champion, DMS 11.

Two Aztecs Garner ACWPC All-America Accolades

San Diego, California - Two San Diego State student-athletes have earned All-America honors, the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced Wednesday. Junior Jenna Schuster (Upland, California) was a second-team selection while classmate Anna Gonzales (Fresno, California) received honorable mention recognition.

Phoenix Coyotes Will Host NHL Draft Viewing Party

Scottsdale, Arizona - The Phoenix Coyotes will host a free NHL Draft Viewing Party on Friday, June 20 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Upper Deck Sports Grill in Scottsdale. The NHL Network draft pre-show will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed at 4 p.m. by Versus coverage of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Johnson, Pressley Win Titles as ASU Places Second in NCAA

Des Moines, Iowa - Jacquelyn Johnson made history by winning her fourth NCAA heptathlon title and Jessica Pressley successfully defended her shot put crown, but it was not enough as the Arizona State University women's track and field team fell just shy of their fourth national title in a row at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, Saturday.

Matador Basketball Camp Kicks Off June 16th

Yuma, Arizona - Arizona Western College is proud to announce that the expanded 10th Annual Matador Basketball Camp will commence June 16th. Session 1 will be held from June 16th through the 19th, and Session 2 will be held from June 25th through the 28th. Both sessions will be held at ‘The House’-the gymnasium on the AWC campus.

AWC Names Tom Minnick New Head Football Coach

Yuma, Arizona - Arizona Western College is proud to announce that Tom Minnick has been named as the new Matadors’ Head Football Coach. Minnick was officially introduced to the media earlier this afternoon in a press conference on the AWC campus. The announcement of Minnick ends a national month-long search to fill the position.
