Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Hall of Fame Phillies Broadcaster Harry Kalas died today at the age of 73. Mr. Kalas was found unconscious in the Phillies broadcast booth where he was preparing for today's Washington Nationals home opener. He was taken to George Washington University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at approximately 1:20 p.m. Cause of death is unknown. |

Tempe, Arizona - Bruce Snyder, the head football coach at Arizona State University for nine seasons (1992-2000), passed away on Monday after being diagnosed with cancer last June. Snyder, who was 69 at the time of his passing, is survived by wife, three daughters, a son-in-law, two grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers and his beloved dog, Ella. Service arrangements will be private. |

San Diego, California - The San Diego State softball team saw its season-long nine-game winning streak come to an end with a 3-1 loss to New Mexico Sunday afternoon at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs (27-14, 4-1 Mountain West Conference) committed three errors and managed only three hits against the Lobos (11-27, 2-4 MWC).

Tucson, Arizona - Jessica Mapes hit her first career home run while Kaitlin Cochran's 13 game hitting streak continued, but ultimately the night belonged to the No. 10 Arizona Wildcats who took a 10-8 win over ASU in Tucson on Friday night. The Sun Devils are now 34-8 overall and 4-3 in conference play while Arizona improves to 33-9 overall and 5-2 in the Pac-10. |
