SDSU - Annual Family Day Football Scrimmage Recap

San Diego – Senior place-kicker Garrett Palmer (Rialto, Calif0rnia) had three field goals and sophomore wideout Jon Toledo (Encinitas, Calif.) caught the only touchdown pass of the 78-play scrimmage Saturday at the annual Aztec Family Day at Qualcomm Stadium. The scrimmage was San Diego State’s first of 2007 fall camp, which is ending its third week since the squad reported to campus Aug. 10.

AWC Volleyball - Lady Matadors Spike Yavapai Community College

The Arizona Western College Lady Matador's Volleyball team (1-0) smashed Yavapai Community College in strait games 30-17, 30-24, and 30-20. The Lady Mats were led by Patty Paniagua (13), Ana Bauer (12) and Luci Toazzi (9) in kills.

AWC Soccer - Matadors Defeat Glendale Community in Opener

The Arizona Western College Matadors men's soccer team (1-0) defeated Glendale Community College (0-1) by the score of 2-1 in their season opener. Abdel Becerra & Eduardo Alves scored goals for the Matadors. Alves goal came just 57 seconds into the match.

San Diego State defeated UC Santa Barbara 3-2 (35-33, 23-30, 13-30, 30-27, 15-9) The win ended a string of 10 straight losses to the Gauchos with SDSU's last win over UCSB coming in 1988. UC Santa Barbara received votes in the preseason AVCA/CSTV national poll It was the season opener for both teams

ASU - Juan Roque Joins Trey Bender in Broadcast Booth

Juan Roque, who was a consensus All-America offensive tackle for Arizona State University during the historic 1996 Rose Bowl season, has been hired as the new analyst for ASU football game telecasts on FSN Arizona. Roque, who also played in the National Football League with the Detroit Lions, is set to team with ASU play-by-play man Trey Bender for Sun Devil games on the network in 2007.

San Diego Chargers at the Arizona Cardinals

Matador Volleyball Preview - The expectations are there, and the 7 straight Region I titles really don’t have much to do with that. Smith and his new coaching staff spent much of the 2007 preseason awed by how much of a difference a year has brought to the flow of preseason practices, and to the overall progress of the program.
