Sun Devil Softball Red-Hot In 11-3 Win Over Oregon State

Tempe, Arizona - For the third time this season Kaitlin Cochran and Katelyn Boyd hit back-to-back home runs as the sixth-ranked Sun Devils picked up their second conference victory over the Oregon State Beavers Saturday night at Farrington Stadium with an 11-3 five inning win. ASU's record now goes to 2-0 in the Pac-10 and 30-5 overall while the Beavers fall to 1-2 in the conference and 16-15 on the season.

Samantha Gatson Earns ACCAC Pitcher of the Week Honors

Yuma, Arizona - Arizona Western College announced that AWC Softball player Samantha Gatson has been named the ACCAC Division I Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 23, 2009. Gatson is the second straight Lady Matadors’ pitcher to receive the honor after Christina Lewis took home the award last week.

Stone Runs Fastest 400 of 2009 in NCAA Division I at Cal-Nevada Meet

Los Angeles, California - San Diego State captain Nicole Stone ran the fastest 400-meter dash time of 2009 in all of NCAA Division I and in the process qualified for the NCAA West Regionals on Saturday at the Cal-Nevada Championships held at Drake Stadium on the campus of UCLA. Stone was one of two Aztecs to qualify for the regional meet joining fellow co-captain Michele Dannhausen, who secured a spot in the javelin throw.

Aztec Drop 8-5 Decision to 16th-Ranked TCU

Fort Worth, Texas - TCU score four unearned runs in the fifth inning and that proved to be the difference as the 16th-ranked Horned Frogs defeated San Diego State, 8-5, Saturday afternoon in Fort Worth, Texas. Those runs erased a 4-1 Aztec lead and helped TCU even the weekend series at one game apiece.

Seventh-Ranked Aztec Water Polo Falls to USC, 10-7

San Diego, California - The San Diego State water polo team gave the second-ranked Trojans a scare in the fourth quarter, but it wouldnt be enough as the Aztecs suffered a 10-7 defeat by the Women of Troy on Saturday afternoon at the Aztec Aquaplex. The Scarlet and Black fall to 0-5 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play, while USC remains perfect in MPSF at 5-0.

Duncan Qualifies Regionally in Short Sprints to Lead ASU at Opener

Tempe, Arizona - Marcus Duncan qualified for the NCAA West Region Championships in the two short sprints and Jasmine Chaney made a solid return to the track as the Arizona State University track and field team completed the first of its five home dates Saturday night with the conclusion of the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

SDSU's Koehler, Taylor Qualify for Regionals at Trojan Invitational

Los Angeles, California - The San Diego State track and field team enjoyed a solid performance at the Trojan Invitational at USCs Loker Stadium on Saturday in Los Angeles. Two Aztecs qualified for the NCAA West Regionals, while three established personal records in the 3,000-meter run and one in the hammer throw.
