Hillary Bach and Back-To-Back Homeruns Propel ASU Softball Past Notre Dame

Fullerton, California - A lights-out Hillary Bach and back-to-back home runs from Mandy Urfer and Renee Welty helped propel the No. 6 ASU softball team to a 3-0 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sunday morning in Fullerton, Calif. The win wraps ASU's weekend at the Judi Garman Classic with their record now standing at 25-5 overall.

Lewis Captures NCAA Title in Weight as Both ASU Squads Finish Fifth

College Station, Texas - A nearly three-foot personal best put Jason Lewis on top of the men’s weight throw competition to give the former walk-on the national title at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday evening as both Arizona State University teams placed fifth overall in the national meet being held on the Texas A&M campus in College Station, Texas.

Berger Shuts Down UNLV In 6-1 Win Over Rebels

Sepulveda named ACCAC DI Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week

Yuma, Arizona - Arizona Western College announced that AWC Baseball player Todd Sepulveda has been named the ACCAC Division I Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 9, 2009. Sepulveda is the first Matador Baseball player to win the award this season, and the first Matador to earn the honor since Derek Benham and Stephen Barbosa each took home the award in back-to-back weeks last March.

ASU Softball Opens Judi Garman Classic With 6-3 Win Over New Mexico

Fullerton, California - Back-to-back home runs from Kaitlin Cochran and Katelyn Boyd as well as RBI hits from Krista Donnenwirth and Caylyn Carlson spelled the story Thursday morning as the sixth-ranked ASU Softball team took a 6-3 win over the New Mexico Lobos to open the Judi Garman Classic. ASU is now 22-4 overall while New Mexico drops to 8-11.

Stevens Named USTFCCCA West Region Field Athlete of the Year

Tempe, Arizona - For the second time in her decorated career, Sarah Stevens, a senior on the Arizona State University track and field team, has been selected as the U.S. Track & Field, Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Women’s West Region Field Athlete of the Year, the Association announced Thursday.

Offense Showcases Talent in ASU Softball's 13-0 Win Over South Dakota State

Tempe, Arizona - A six-hit complete game shutout with three strikeouts by Hillary Bach to collect her 11th win of the season coupled with ASU's full-throttle offense led the No. 7 ASU Softball team over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits with a 13-0 win in five innings. ASU put up 17 hits on the night with 19 different ASU batters gracing the plate on the night. ASU is now 19-4 overall while S. Dakota State drops to 3-12.
