San Diego – San Diego State senior Aaron Goldberg begins competition on Tuesday as part of the World University Games at the Water Mill Golf and Gardens Club in Nakhonnayok, Thailand. The 54-hole event, which concludes on Friday, marks the first time in the games’ history that golf is included.Goldberg, SDSU’s first PING All-American since 2001, will compete in Thailand as a member of the United States team along with Michigan State’s Ryan Brehm, Texas A&M’s Bronson Burgoon and Scottsdale Community College’s Braxton Marquez. Iowa head coach Mark Hankins will coach the group.
“We are very excited for Aaron to be playing in this Olympic-style competition,” Aztec men’s golf coach Ryan Donovan said. “It’s a tremendous honor to be selected to represent one’s country. Aaron has a great opportunity to play overseas with other talented golfers and to be coached by Mark Hankins.”
