One of the biggest rewards I get from playing in the NFL is the opportunity to improve the lives of those around me. Whether I'm visiting an elementary school or being part of a food drive, I truly enjoy making a difference for those in need. Being a part of the San Diego - Imperial Valley Red Cross has allowed me to use my voice to gain even more support for an already flourishing program.
I believe that nothing is stronger than the heart of a volunteer. The Red Cross' volunteer-led response department is out in the field helping people 24 hours a day, winter, spring, summer, and (my favorite season) fall. And they're busy---responding to a local emergency almost every day. Caring for humanity, after all, has no off-season. A big part of the Red Cross' mission is to create the best defense we can against emergencies and disasters. That means taking First Aid and CPR classes and learning how to protect your family. That means having a disaster kit in your car and home… ready to go. That means giving blood so our hospitals are prepared to care for others in need. None of these great programs would be possible without teamwork from our community. That's where you come into the game. By donating your time, blood, and money, you become the playmakers that enable the Red Cross to save lives and help people in their time of need. Please visit: American Red Cross |
