Enough tickets have been sold to Thursday’s game between the Chargers and San Francisco 49ers to lift the local television blackout. A limited number of tickets are still available online at www.chargers.com or at the Chargers Ticket Office at Qualcomm Stadium (Gate C). The game will be televised live on KFMB-TV, Ch. 8 in San Diego and KCBS, Ch. 2 in Los Angeles and Orange County. Ron Pitts will call the play-by-play and Billy Ray Smith will handle the color commentary. The NFL Network will televise the broadcast nationally. The game also will be carried in Spanish on Mi San Diego, Ch. 43 with Adrian Garcia, calling the play-by-play and Benny Ricardo providing the analysis.IMPORTANT NOTE: Fans attending all Chargers home games need to be aware that the City of San Diego plans to aggressively enforce two city ordinances. Smoking is prohibited inside the stadium and glass bottles are banned from the parking lot. The San Diego Police Department and Elite Security will be strictly enforcing these ordinances and violators will be prosecuted. Fans attending this Thursday’s game should prepare for major traffic congestion due to normal week-day rush-hour traffic along with the upcoming Labor Day traffic. The parking lot at Qualcomm Stadium will open Thursday at 2 p.m. With a capacity crowd expected, the parking lot is expected to fill quickly and could close as early as 4 p.m. Stadium gates will open at 5 p.m. for General Ticket Holders and at 4 p.m. for Club Seat and Suite Ticket Holders. A limited amount of paid overflow parking is available in the parking lot of the Pacific Bell building, which is located off Northside Drive, west of the stadium. Additional overflow parking is also available at the Town and Country Hotel (I-8 and Hotel Circle), the Marriott Mission Valley (Qualcomm Way and Rio San Diego Dr.) and San Diego State University (I-8 and College Ave. Rates and parking lots vary). Fans can ride the San Diego Trolley to the stadium from each of these parking locations. A paid Trolley ticket is required before boarding the Trolley to the stadium. Fans taking the Trolley are encouraged to allow extra travel time to the stadium. The Trolley is expected to be over-crowded due to both the Chargers and Padres playing simultaneously. MTS will put every available Trolley on the rails to get fans to and from the stadium. Round-trip Trolley tickets range from $3.00-$6.00. The normal Sunday bus service to the stadium will not be available because the game is being played on a weekday. Trolley stops with ample parking from the west are located at the Old Town Trolley Station (Pacific Highway and Taylor Street), Hazard Center (Friars Road and Frazee, east of Hwy 163), or the Grantville Trolley Station (I-8 and Mission Gorge Road). From the east, fans can park and board the Trolley at the El Cajon Transit Center (Main St. at Marshall) and the Grossmont Transit Center (Fletcher Parkway at Grossmont Center Dr.). The MTS Chargers Express Bus will not operate during preseason games at Qualcomm Stadium. Service will resume for all regular season games with the exception of the Dec. 24 game vs. Denver. |
