“This is a great extension of our relationship that began last year with Uniradio,” said Chargers Executive Vice President-Chief Operating Officer Jim Steeg. “We’re excited about the opportunity that more Charger fans will be able to listen to us via the FM station.” This change marks the first time in San Diego a professional sports team’s season will be broadcast in Spanish on a FM station. 107.3 Pulsar has a Spanish “contemporary hit radio” or “CHR” format, more in line with the team’s fan demographic. Uniradio, the parent company of both stations, has been broadcasting in the San Diego-Tijuana region for more than 39 years. Uniradio operates 12 radio stations covering the Northwestern part of Mexico as well as San Diego and Orange County in California. This will be the second year Uniradio has broadcast the Chargers games. General Manager/Vice President of Uniradio Ricardo Astiarazan stated: “We’re very excited with the idea of broadcasting Chargers football on an FM station for the first time for our Hispanic audience.” |
