San Diego, California - The 2008 AFC West championship will be decided in prime time under the lights of San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium on Sunday Night, December 28 when the Chargers, winners of three straight games and three of the last four AFC West titles, play host to their rivals from the Mile High City, the Denver Broncos.

NBC’s broadcast team of Al Michaels, John Madden and Andrea Kremer will call the action. Kickoff set for 5:15 pm PST. The Chargers’ 41-24 win at Tampa Bay last Sunday, combined with Buffalo’s 30-23 win over the Broncos at Invesco Field, set up Sunday night’s title tilt.

Kings of the AFC West at 4-1, the Chargers own the best division record in the AFC West in 2008. Over the last five seasons (since 2004), the Bolts are 22-7 (.759) in AFC West play. They have won two straight division titles and since the NFL realigned the divisions in 2002, the Chargers are the only AFC West team to win back-to-back titles.

December Dynamos: The Chargers will host the Broncos having won 13 games in a row in the month of December, including seven in a row at home. Coincidentally, San Diego’s last loss in December was a 23-7 season-ending loss to the Broncos at home in 2005.

Series History: Denver won this season’s first meeting to improve their all-time series ledger to 53-43-1. The Chargers however have won four of the last five overall and three of the last four in San Diego. The Chargers have outscored the Broncos by a combined 71-23 in their last two wins in San Diego. All-time, the Chargers are 29-18 in series games played in San Diego.

This will be the 11th time the Chargers and Broncos have met in a regular-season finale. San Diego is 6-4 in those games and 5-2 in the ones played in San Diego.
