Coyotes Acquire Radim Vrbata from Blackhawks for Kevyn Adams PDF Print E-mail

Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced that the Coyotes have acquired right wing Radim Vrbata from the Chicago Blackhawks for center Kevyn Adams. Last season, the 26-year old Vrbata finished as Chicago’s second leading scorer and set career highs in assists (27) and points (41). In 77 games, Vrbata collected 14-27-41 and 26 penalty minutes (PIM). Vrbata also led the club in shots on goal (215) and was tied for first in power-play goals (5).

The 5-foot-11, 171-pound native of Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic has played in seven NHL seasons with Colorado, Carolina and Chicago, recording 75-95-170 and 104 PIM in 346 career NHL games. Vrbata also represented Czech Republic in the 2005 World Championships.

Vrbata was originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche (7th choice, 212th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

Adams registered 1-7-8 and 8 PIM in 33 games with Phoenix last season.  Over his 12-season NHL career, the 32-year-old Adams has collected 59-75-134 and 304 PIM in 513 games with Toronto, Columbus, Florida, Carolina and Phoenix. The Coyotes acquired Adams from the Carolina Hurricanes for Dennis Seidenberg on Jan. 8, 2007.
