Seattle, Washington - The No. 46 San Diego State women’s tennis team suffered its first setback of the 2008 season with a 6-1 loss at No. 55 University of Washington. The Huskies captured the doubles point before winning five-of-six singles matches for the victory.
The Aztecs fall to 3-1 on the year, while In three tightly played doubles matches, SDSU was only able to pull out one victory as Julia Trunk and Esther Cadua defeated Aleksandra Malovic and Melinda Wong, 9-8 (4), at the No. 3 position. Trunk, who is ranked No. 61 in the nation, also had the Aztecs’ lone singles victory as she downed Malovic, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 2 spot. Eliska Krausova put up a fight on court 3, but ended up falling in three sets to Tara Simpson. The Huskies were able to clinch the match with a win at the No. 4 position, as Joyce Ardies handed Cadua her first dual-match loss. No. 55 Doubles Singles Order of finish |
