The San Diego State University Department of Athletics in conjunction with Aztec Sports Properties has laid the blueprint for a great partnership and another great football season with the addition of new sponsor McMillin Homes. McMillin Homes is the official sponsor of the Aztec’s football home opener vs. Portland State at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007. The much anticipated KGB SkyShow is set to begin following the football game.
“We’re honored that McMillin homes has joined the Aztec Athletic family as a corporate sponsor,” said Steve Becvar, SDSU’s Executive Associate Athletic Director and General Manager of Aztec Sports Properties. “As a result of the outstanding history of McMillin Homes here in San Diego and the annual excitement of the fireworks display, the foundation on which this partnership stands is built for lasting success. Together, these two entities represent over 75 years of San Diego tradition.”
The annual fireworks show burst onto the local scene in 1976 and quickly became a San Diego tradition. In 1997, 1998 and 2001, the KGB SkyShow helped the Padres draw over 60,000 fans for a game. Today, it continues to be one of the top draws for San Diego State football.
“We are proud to partner with SDSU Athletics and sponsor the long-standing tradition of Aztec Football,” commented Liz Barela-Ramirez, Vice President of Marketing for The Corky McMillin Companies. “This event is a great way for us to show our appreciation to the San Diego Community, and we’re thrilled to be involved.”
Tickets to the game are available at www.goaztecs.com, by calling 619-283-SDSU, or by visiting the Aztec Ticket Office Window E at Qualcomm Stadium.
