After helping the San Diego State men’s soccer team to a pair of victories and the UNLV Tournament title over the weekend, Kraig Chiles (San Diego/Poway High School) and Jamel Wallace (San Diego/Oceanside High School) were each named to a national team of the week on Monday. Chiles was honored by Top Drawer Soccer while Wallace garnered College Soccer News accolades.

Chiles, a redshirt senior co-captain, scored the game-winning goal in the 109th minute on Saturday to lift the Aztecs to a 2-1, double-overtime victory over Drake in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was the fourth consecutive win for SDSU, which has outscored its opponents, 7-1, over the four-match span. Chiles, a two-time all-Pac-10 selection, is tied for the 2007 team lead with six points on two goals and two assists.

A redshirt sophomore, Wallace scored a goal in each of San Diego State’s victories. He scored the lone goal of the Aztecs’ 1-0 win over Drake on Friday and tallied another in the team’s 2-1, double-overtime victory on Saturday. Following the goals, he moved to the central back position to help solidify the SDSU defense. Wallace leads the squad in goals (three) and minutes played (619) this season, while his six points are tied with Chiles for most on the team.

San Diego State plays host to nationally ranked UC Irvine this Saturday at 2 p.m.
