The San Diego Padres today announced the return of Domingos Padres presented by T-Mobile on three Sundays during the 2016 season. A popular tradition from the late-90's, Domingos Padres is back as a family friendly celebration of Hispanic culture, including food and drink specials, a unique in-game entertainment experience, themed activations at the Park at the Park and a special ticket promotion. In addition to Domingos Padres, every Sunday at Petco Park will remain a Military Appreciation Sunday and family day, with dedicated branch appreciation days presented by USAA and other military salutes, as well as KidsFest at the Park.
"We are extremely excited to reinstitute a popular Padres tradition that offers a unique experience tailored to our Hispanic fans, both in San Diego and throughout Mexico," said Padres President & CEO Mike Dee. "Domingos Padres provides a great opportunity for fans south of the border to enjoy an afternoon game with their families. We'd like to thank T-Mobile for their partnership in helping us bring back this important initiative."
The first Domingos Padres of the season will take place on Sunday, May 8 when the Padres play the New York Mets at 1:40 p.m. Additional Domingos Padres dates include Sunday, June 19 vs. the Washington Nationals and Sunday, September 25 vs. the San Francisco Giants. The final date against the Giants will mark the culmination of a weekend-long Hispanic Heritage Celebration, including Fiesta in the Park on Friday, September 23 and Hispanic Heritage Night on Saturday, September 24.
Fans attending Domingos Padres games will be treated to culturally-themed activities and entertainment at the Park at the Park, as well as food and drink specials for the entire family to enjoy. Each Domingos Padres game will feature a special pregame ceremony and will showcase in-game video content featuring the team's Spanish speaking players, as well as themed music and other ballpark elements.
Also, as part of Domingos Padres, a special ticket offer featuring 20 percent off of single-game ticket pricing will be made available for all Sunday home games (excludes May 22, July 3 and July 17). The offer will be good for three seating sections (Right Field Lower Reserved, Upper Infield and Park at the Park passes) and can be purchased at www.padres.com/domingospadres, www.padresbeisbol.com, and at the Advance Ticket Windows at Petco Park.
Home Sundays this season will continue the tradition of a family-focused day honoring the military, with 13 Military Appreciation Sundays. Each Sunday, Padres players will wear their camouflage uniforms. Most Sundays will feature the Navy digital camouflage, which is new for 2016. On two Sundays, the Marine digital camouflage will be worn.
Every Sunday day game also will feature the return of KidsFest at Park at the Park and Compadres Kids Sunday Signings. KidsFest features bounce houses, inflatable games, balloon artists and face painters, as well as additional kid-friendly activities. Prior to all Sunday home games, two Padres players will sign autographs at Park at the Park for Compadres Kids Sunday Signings. A Compadres Kids membership is required to participate in the signing event. Membership is free and kids can sign up online or in-person on the day of the event.
Military Opening Day is set for Sunday, April 17. The Padres and USAA will honor individual branches with five dedicated appreciation days. In addition, the Sunday lineup for 2016 includes a salute dedicated to the USS Theodore Roosevelt presented by Navy Federal Credit Union (April 24), Military Spouse Appreciation Day presented by USAA (May 8), a Salute to the Military Family presented by USAA (August 21) and a Salute to Veterans presented by Navy Federal Credit Union (September 11). Military Sundays coinciding with Domingos Padres Sundays (May 8, June 19, September 25) will still feature Military Takes the Field, the presentation of our colors by the Color Guard and a rendition of God Bless America during the seventh inning.
